  • How does your plastic edging stay permanently in place on the substrate?

Our plastic edging is engineered to have a slight curvature inward, toward the substrate. When "stretched" and placed onto the substrate’s edge, tension firmly holds the edging in place. However, if a stronger adhesion is desired, you may apply a variety of solvents or glues to permanently weld the plastic onto the substrate. Obviously if you choose the latter method, you may damage the image or substrate if you ever attempt to remove the welded plastic edge. Acceptable solvents or glues include: Standard Acetone (which can be obtained at any paint store), Super Glue®, Elmers® glue, silicone caulk/glue, hot glue, etc.

  • What other types of substrates can I protect with your plastic edging?

Almost any type of substrate can be framed with genuine ProEDGE® plastic edging. Because we use an indoor/outdoor grade of virgin ABS plastic, with a durable mylar overlaminate, our edging can be placed in or outdoors on a wide variety of substrates, including, but not limited to: Airlyte® Board, Fomeboard®, Gatorboard®, Sintra®, Alumalite®, Coroplast®, glass, MDO® board, plywood, marble, Lexan®, Plexiglass®, etc.

  • How many sizes (gap widths) of plastic edging does your machine cut?

Virtually all standard substrate thickness or sizes can be cut, including: 3/16", 1/2", 13/16", or with the optional die set 1/8", 1/4" or 3/8". All standard lengths are 98". Custom thicknesses (we refer to as "gap widths") can be custom ordered, however it would also require the development of a custom die set for your ProEDGE® cutting tool and a custom extrusion die for the plastic edging. The minimum order for a custom thickness is 50,000 feet (100 tubes) of plastic edging.

  • What type of plastic is used to manufacture ProEDGE® plastic edging?

Virgin ABS Plastic with an overlaminate of thin mylar film to give color and durability. ABS plastic is considered by most as the “cadillac” of plastics, as it generally will not fade, warp, crack or split, even in adverse weather conditions.

  • What size images can be framed with ProEDGE®?

You can frame virtually any size image with ProEDGE®. The largest standard measuring bar is eight feet, which will allow easy measuring from business card size (2" x 3.5") up to 8' x 8'. Larger and small images can be framed with ProEDGE®, but would require "butt" seams in some cases.

  • Why do you make your edging reversible?

So your customer has the choice of a "thin" framed look, or a "thick" framed look. Because the ProEDGE® plastic edging’s color (mylar film) wraps completely around the plastic, your customer may choose to have the "short leg" or the "long leg" facing the image. On smaller images (20" x 30" or smaller) most customers prefer the short leg of the "J" channel plastic edging facing the image. On larger images, some customers feel that the short leg "looks out of proportion", so they prefer to face the longer leg towards the image, which creates a much bolder look.

  • What is an "accent panel" ?

An accent panel is simply an easy to create, inexpensive interchangeable sign system. Some refer to it as a "menu board".
